[Sneeze_l] [WM DPG] Fwd: [ASDAH] naafa guidelines for healthcare providers with fat patients

Long ago, the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance
<naafa.org> attempted
to destigmatize the word, "fat". Unfortunately, that campaign has not
been very successful. However, in my work with large and very large
people, when I have asked them what term they would like people to use to
describe their body size, almost all of them preferred "fat", especially
when it comes to the term "obesity," which they felt was extremely
stigmatizing. This is the reason you will often see the term "fat" used by
large people who are tired of being stigmatized because of their body
size.
