  Citizenship Rutgers: An opportunity for legal permanent residents to apply
for U.S. citizenship

*WHO:*

Rutgers students, staff, faculty, family and friends

*WHEN:*

Saturday, April 9, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

*WHERE:*

Rutgers Student Center (fourth floor), 126 College Avenue, New Brunswick

*BACKGROUND:*

At this free event, immigration lawyers will review eligibility on an
individual basis. Applicants will receive assistance in completing the
application in various languages. Participants will receive free photographs
and photocopies of paperwork.

To be eligible, participants must meet the following requirements: reside in
the U.S. as a permanent resident for five years (three years if living with
and married to the same U.S. citizen); live in the U.S. for half of the
five-year or three-year period; be at least 18 years old. Attendees should
bring a Green Card and all their passports (if any) since obtaining their
Green Cards; proof of home addresses for the past five or three years;
children’s information (date of birth, home addresses, alien number), if
applicable; employment history for the last five or three years, if
applicable; marital and criminal histories, if applicable.

Citizenship Rutgers is a project of the Eagleton Institute Program on
Immigration and Democracy, Rutgers School of Law-Camden, Rutgers School of
Law-Newark, the Center for Migration and the Global City, and *Rutgers
School of Management and Labor Relations*. Additional sponsors include the
Department of Public Policy and Administration of the Graduate School at
Rutgers-Camden, Rutgers’ Associate Vice President of Academic and Public
Partnerships in the Arts and Humanities, The Bonner Foundation and
Citizenship NOW! (City University of New York).
