Department Assistant, Human Resources

 

Position Summary

This position is responsible for supporting half of the US-based HR
Generalist function of Human Resources.  Responsibilities include, but are
not limited to: responding to employee inquiries, project assignments, and
providing administrative support to the HRG team.

 


Core Responsibilities:


.         Assist with response and follow-up to employee inquiries regarding
company policies/procedures as well as employee programs and services in a
unionized and non-unionized environment

.         Review, audit, update, copy and reconcile Org Charts

.         Process employee transactions (ie, terminations, transfers,
supervisor changes, and promotions, etc.) including completion of paperwork
and notification to applicable departments

.         Coordinate the full-cycle exit process (regular and project
employees)

.         Assist with documentation of employee relations issues and
weekly/monthly Reporting

.         Review, audit, and update Executive Staff List and reconcile with
Lotus Notes People Directory Admin Assistant functionality

.         Maintain corporate discounts/employee perks and regulatory
postings in all locations 

.         Handle adhoc project and report requests 

 

General HR Responsibilities:

.         Liaison with other employee support functions such as Benefits,
and Payroll

.         Partner with HR counterparts, such as Recruiting,
Compensation/HRIS and Learning & Development, to provide superior client
service

.         Assist with ongoing and special projects (i.e. Advocate for:
Employee Appreciation Day, Corporate Day of Service, etc.)

 

Required Skills/Knowledge: 

.         Excellent written and oral communication skills

.         Organized, strong attention to detail 

.         Ability to prioritize and multi-task 

.         Must possess a strong sense of urgency and meet deadlines in a
fast paced environment

.         Excellent client service and interpersonal skills

.         Strong computer proficiency including, preferred knowledge of
PeopleSoft and Lotus Notes, and highly skilled in Microsoft applications
(Word, Excel)

.         Excellent research skills

.         Strong interest and desire to learn Human Resources policies and
procedures

.         Team player approach and demeanor

 

Experience Needed: 

.         2 - 3 years experience in an HR support role

 

Educational Background Required: 

.         College degree with foundation in Human Resources, Psychology,
Sociology or Communications preferred
