DIMACS/CCICADA Interdisciplinary Series, Spring 2013

 

   Dates: Held approximately every other Monday, (*with occasional talks
scheduled Tuesdays at 1pm. )

 

   Time: Mondays from 11 AM to 12 noon

   

   Location: DIMACS, CoRE Bldg. Room 431, Rutgers Busch Campus, Piscataway,
NJ

Series Description:  A forum for presentation and discussion of
mathematical, computational, and statistical questions of interest to the
DIMACS/CCICADA community and arising from research challenges in a variety
of disciplines. We expect the series to be of interest to applied
mathematicians, computer scientists, and statisticians, as well as
researchers and practitioners in engineering, bioinformatics, epidemiology,
political science, sociology, and the behavioral sciences.

Current Schedule

 

. Feb. 4: Mathew Samuel ( Math - Rutgers ), A new analog of permutation
patterns for general Coxeter Groups.

. Feb. 18: Bahman Kalantari ( CS - Rutgers ) The Triangle Algorithm.

. March 4: Yong-Yeol Ahn ( CS - University of Indiana), Meme Virality and
Community Structure.

. March 12 * (Tuesday): Howard Karloff (AT&T Labs), Maximum Entropy Summary
Trees.

  ( March 16 - March 24 Spring Break - no seminar)

. March 25: Jeffrey Hermann and William Rand (University of Maryland),
Tweeter Excursions.

. April 8: Raghu Meka ( DIMACS-Rutgers and IAS - Princeton ), Computing the
Supremum of Gaussian Processes.

. April 15: Graham Cormode (  AT&T Labs ), TBA
