Dr. Laila Soueif and Egyptian revolutionary Mona Seif, her daughter,
escalate their huger strike to include both food and water. Dr. Laila and
Mona are family members of detained Sanaa Seif and Alaa Abd El-Fattah. Dr.
Laila Soueif stated the following on the 27th of October, 2014:

"Sanaa joined the hunger strike in Egyptian jails on the 28th of August, 61
days ago, protesting the anti-protest law and her unjust detention
alongside other young people.

Mona and I joined the hunger strike in solidairty with the detainees on the
4th of September, 54 days ago.

Yesterday, Sanaa and her colleagues were sentenced to three years in
prison, a fine and three years of surveillance after release.

Today Alaa's trial began, along with his colleagues in the Shura Council
case, before a new judge, after the previous judge stepped down. All
defendants were released on bail and attended the court session and did not
try to escape, but the judges still ordered their detention until the next
court session on November 11.

Therefore, Mona and I decided to go on a full hunger strike and notified
the prosecutor general of our decision"

Since this morning both Dr. Laila and Mona are at the high court building,
on their 58th day of hunger strike, and third day of full hunger strike.

At the time of posting this, Alaa Abd El-Fattah's whereabouts were still
unknown. He was taken into custody, but the authorities are refusing to
declare his whereabouts.

Please take a moment to share the news, and please take a minute to write
to the Egyptian embassy in your country demanding the release of the
detainees. Please forward this to human rights organizations and press.

A hunger striking campaign against the Protest Law continues, with around
125 people on strike inside prisons, including Mohamed Soltan, who has been
on hunger strike for 278 days.

Outside prison, 1028 people have joined the hunger strike in solidarity.

It takes no time to make some noise. Please take this small effort.
