Dear Friends,

Have you heard about the Open Day for Women and Peace? It is a
UN-organized initiative that is taking place in more than 20 countries
through the month of June and July to mark the 10^th anniversary of UN
Security Council Resolution 1325

Passed by the UN Security Council, Resolution 1325 called for women's
equal participation in peacebuilding for the first time. However, its
implementation has been too slow to make a real difference in women's
lives in war torn countries. During the Open Days
<>, senior UN
officials are meeting women peace activists and leaders to hear their
concerns, and discuss how to increase women's participation in conflict
resolution and peacebuilding.

You can show your support by adding your name to the 1325 call for
action <>. In
less than two weeks, more than two thousand people have signed the
petition. With your help, we could reach many, many more!

As part of the Say NO -- UNiTE to End Violence against Women
<>, our friends at UNIFEM are bringing
_news and updates from the ground
<>. _

You can also help by spreading the word -- share this action alert with
your friends and networks, join Say NO on Facebook
<> and Twitter
<>. You can blog about it or write to your
local media.

Thank you in advance for your support. It's an urgent issue that needs
your voice.
