Several months ago, I submitted an application for the 2008 JusticeMakers Competition. In doing so, I joined a global community of legal aid lawyers, policemen, and NGO officers that had proposed solutions for curbing torture and legal abuse on a local level.
Last month, I received word that my application was one of a handful of proposals to be named a JusticeMakers Finalist. With your assistance, I now have a shot at winning $5,000 to implement my idea.
Here's how you can help.
1. Register for www.justicemakers.net.
2. Login and click "Browse Projects" on the left hand side of the page.
3. Browse or search for [waheed], my JusticeMakers username, and click on it.
4. Click on the orange "Rate Me" icon that appears on the top of the page.
5. Read a short summary of my proposal and rate my project. (Preferably with five stars.)
That's it! If, on November 13, I have the highest average rating of any project, I'll win the $5,000 to implement my project. :)
Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you in advance for your help.

Dear 16 Days Participants:
With less than a month to go before the campaign kicks off, we thought it might be useful to have a regular weekly update! There are lots of exciting plans for this year’s campaign, and we hope to use this space to highlight some of them.

16 Days Informal Caucus at AWID
CWGL is participating in the upcoming AWID conference in Cape Town (November 14-17). The 16 Days informal lunch caucus is scheduled for Sunday, November 16th in Room 2.61. If you plan to attend AWID and are interested this caucus, please contact kcswan at rci.rutgers.edu to sign up. Hope to see you there!
The 16 Days Logo
CWGL encourages groups to use the 16 Days campaign as an opportunity to work on issues related to Violence Against Women that are the most relevant and pressing in their communities. The beauty of the 16 Days Campaign is that it enables groups working at the local level to link their work to a larger movement. One way to link this work is by using the 16 Days logo on your promotional materials. The logo can be downloaded from the Take Action Kit page (http://www.cwgl.rutgers.edu/16days/kit08/kit.html).
UNIFEM Say NO to Violence:
Sign the online campaign to put an end to Violence Against Women! UNIFEM is trying to collect 1 million signatures before November 25th, so please encourage others to sign on!
Every Human Has Rights:
Sign the Universal Declaration and pledge to live a life that respects Human Rights for All!
