YouTube and Enough Present:
COME CLEAN 4 CONGO

Dear Friend,
Your cell phone has a guilty conscience. A deadly war is raging in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, and your cell phone is helping drive the violence there. Why, you might ask? Because your cell phone needs minerals - tin, tungsten, tantalum (the 3T's) and gold - to work properly. And those minerals can be found in eastern Congo, where armed groups are perpetrating atrocities and sexual violence while jockeying for control of the minerals trade. Yep, that's right. Your cell phone is helping to finance some of the worst violence in the world.

You can clear your cell phone's conscience. You can use it to raise awareness and call for an end to the scourge of conflict minerals in Congo. RAISE Hope for Congo has teamed up with YouTube to launch the "COME CLEAN 4 CONGO<http://capweb.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=i18g3yzp0Ux%2FfOQBIWjyYLafyBDtOLQW>" video contest. Submit your video now!<http://capweb.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=xNkQrmTPLaHh4kTmsWnhOLafyBDtOLQW>

Design the best video that raises awareness about the link between our cell phones and the violence in Congo, and we will fly you to LA (from within the U.S.) where your winning video will be screened at an entertainment industry event to mark the occasion. The winning video will also be featured on the Enough Project's websites and YouTube page. The deadline to submit videos is July 1, 2009.

The celebrity panel of judges, including Oscar-nominated actor Ryan Gosling, actress Sonya Walger from "Lost," and Oscar-nominated director Wim Wenders, will narrow the field down to three semi-finalists, and the public will vote on the winner. Submit your video now!<http://capweb.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=9JCehmgQ7S8FiqXFwh1cSLafyBDtOLQW>

Our cell phones don't have to fuel the deadliest war in the world. Use your cell phone to call on electronics companies to COME CLEAN 4 CONGO. All videos should include the call to action: Text "CONGOPLEDGE" (one word, no spaces) to ACTION (228466).

So grab a camera. Make a video. Challenge electronics companies to Come Clean 4 Congo.
SUBMIT YOUR VIDEO NOW!<http://capweb.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=lcfqJBMv15ExhTdncYc%2F%2B7afyBDtOLQW>
